G-Land Jack's Surf Camp

G-Land Jack's Surf Camp is one of the handful of surf camps at Plengkung Beach, the remote stretch of jungle coast inside Alas Purwo National Park in Banyuwangi, East Java, that faces the long left-hand reef known as G-Land. The camp is run by PT Wana Wisata Alam Hayati, which has its booking office on Jalan Benesari in Kuta, Bali, and most guests arrive by the fast boat from Bali included in every package.

Packages are sold by room type and length of stay. The published prices are USD 549 for three nights in a standard room, USD 649 in a bungalow and USD 749 in an ocean-view room, with six-night packages from USD 849 and extra three-night blocks from USD 274. Each package includes the return fast boat, three meals a day, beer and soft drinks, your room and wifi, plus billiards and table tennis for flat days.

This is a camp for surfers who can already handle a fast, powerful reef wave rather than a place to learn: the camp does not advertise lessons, but a surf guide is available on request, along with board storage, ding repair and surf photography. Away from the water the team can arrange sunset trips, off-road drives, fishing and trail running in the national park.
