Jamburae Lodge sits on the shore of Lagundri Bay in Sorake, South Nias, directly in front of the legendary right-hander known as The Point. From the lodge's big terrace you can check the wave without leaving the property, and paddle out the moment conditions turn on.
As well as accommodation, the lodge runs a surf school with lessons and coaching for surfers of all levels, rents boards of all sizes (including longboards), and uses its own speedboat for trips to other breaks around Nias. Rooms have air conditioning, private bathrooms and Wi-Fi, and meals are fresh and healthy, with vegetarian, vegan and special diets catered for.
Shared spaces include a lounge that doubles as a co-working and yoga area, a bar, a garden, and a jetty with natural reef pools for sunset swims, plus a weekly wood-fired pizza night. It's a comfortable base for experienced surfers chasing Lagundri's famous barrels, and for improvers who want coaching on the island's mellower days.
