Harana Surf School is run from Harana Surf Resort at Tuason Point in Catangnan, General Luna, a short ride from Cloud 9. The instructor team is made up of surfers born and raised on Siargao, and the beginner course follows the ISA standard curriculum, moderated by members of the Siargao Island Surfers Association.
Beginner lessons combine a classroom theory session covering gear, tides, swell and safety with two hours in the water per session. Courses are sold as one, three or five days, and the five-day course includes video analysis, a certificate and notes for future independent surfing. A personalised intermediate course starts with an assessment session, and one-to-one surf guiding is offered to independent surfers who can catch their own waves. Entrance, boat and transport fees to the breaks are charged separately.
The school keeps a rental quiver of hard epoxy boards from 5ft 8in to 9ft 6in, including longboards, funboards, shortboards and premium boards, available by the session, day or week. With rooms on site and a strong focus on structured progression, Harana suits beginners who want proper theory and intermediates looking to improve over a longer stay.
