27 Surf School Bali has been teaching on Kuta Beach since 2018 and says it has coached more than 30,000 students. Its base is on Jalan Raya Pantai Kuta, across the road from Beachwalk Shopping Centre, a short walk from the sand breaks that make Kuta one of the gentlest places in Bali to learn. The school also runs sessions in Canggu for surfers who want to try different waves.

The core offer is a private, one-to-one beginner lesson of 90 minutes, priced at IDR 200,000 to 250,000 per person with a soft-top board and rash vest included. Each session starts on the beach with ocean safety, rip currents and line-up etiquette before moving on to paddling, the pop-up and riding whitewater. Two-hour kids' lessons are offered for ages 7 to 13, focused on water confidence and safety.

Once you can stand up, the school's progression packages of three to seven private sessions (IDR 900,000 to 1,100,000) move you from foam boards to hard boards and work on wave selection, turning and riding unbroken green waves. Experienced surfers can book guided trips to other breaks around the island, with transport and tide timing handled by the guides. Instructors speak English, and bookings are taken by WhatsApp or email.
