Bali Green Surf School is a locally owned surf school in Seminyak, run by co-founder and manager Ketut Widiartawan and based on Jalan Drupadi, a short walk from Double Six Beach. It describes itself as one of the first locally owned surf schools in Seminyak, and the name reflects its focus on keeping Bali's beaches clean. Instructors are local surfers, and the school takes students to whichever spot suits their level and the day's conditions.
Every lesson lasts two hours and includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, all equipment, refreshments and constant supervision, with small groups of two to three students per instructor. Group lessons for all levels are listed at IDR 500,000 per person for one day, with three- and six-day bundles, and private one-to-one lessons at IDR 700,000, though the school regularly runs discounts on these rates. There are also kids' lessons for ages five to twelve, a family lesson for two adults and two children, and optional surf photos and video at extra cost.
For surfers who can already ride green waves, the school offers intermediate and advanced coaching covering turns, duck-diving and wave selection, plus an eight-hour Bali surf trip with a driver, surf guide, equipment and refreshments. Part of every booking supports its charity programme, which provides food, clothes and school supplies for orphaned and homeless children in Bali and runs beach clean-ups and free surf sessions for local kids. Check the school's website for current prices and offers before booking.
