Double D Surf School

Double D Surf School is run by a crew of local surfers, friends and family who were born and raised on Kuta Beach in south Lombok. It takes its name from Double D, a fun nearby reef break with smooth take-offs and playful sections where many of the team learned to surf. Its instructors include Rony, Amet and Dandy, each with between four and eight years' experience coaching and many more years surfing the breaks around Kuta.

Lessons are taught in small groups or privately and are tailored to your level and the day's conditions, from first-timers on mellow beach breaks to surfers ready for the faster reefs. Every session includes a surfboard, boat transfer where needed and sun protection, plus surf theory on land before you paddle out. The published price is IDR 500,000 per person for one session, IDR 1.35 million for three and IDR 2.1 million for five.

Experienced surfers can book surf guiding at the same prices: a local guide takes you to the best spot for the tide and swell and helps you handle reefs, sea urchins and currents. The team also runs morning and evening fishing trips with local captains, with an optional beach barbecue of your catch.
