Lakey Peak Haven is a surf homestead in the village of Hu'u in Dompu, Sumbawa, set on a 6,000 square metre property with views straight out to the surf at Lakey Peak, one of Indonesia's best-known A-frame reef waves. Open since 2017, it has 13 rooms built from locally sourced materials, surrounded by gardens, vegetable beds and fruit trees.
Life centres on the big swimming pool, restaurant and communal areas, all with an uninterrupted view of the line-up, so you can watch the waves from your veranda and paddle out when conditions come together. There's fast Starlink wifi throughout, and the property has hosted visiting surf crews and pros over the years.
Lakey Peak and the nearby breaks of Lakey Pipe, Periscopes, Nungas and Cobblestones are reef waves best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers, which makes Lakey Peak Haven a camp for surf trips rather than learn-to-surf lessons. It's reached by flying from Bali to Bima, then a road transfer of around two hours. Bookings go direct by WhatsApp or email, or through the surf travel agent World Surfaris.
