Dreamsea Sri Lanka is the Ahangama outpost of the international Dreamsea surf camp group, set on Matara Road with direct beach access, a pool and a bar. Accommodation is split between air-conditioned private doubles with balconies and four-bed shared rooms, each with a private bathroom.
Surf lessons are taught in three levels, from first-timers to surfers working on trim and turns, at a ratio of one instructor to four students. A two-hour group lesson costs €40 and a 10-hour course with theory starts at €290; courses include soft-top boards, lycras, leashes and transport, while Levels 1 and 2 add surf-skate and surf fitness sessions and Level 2 includes video analysis. Lessons rotate between Kabalana, Green Room, Lamana and Animals depending on tide and forecast, and hardboards can be rented for €10 a day.
Weekly packs combine accommodation with lessons, yoga and activities, and more experienced surfers can opt for guided surf sessions instead. The south coast season runs from roughly November to April. Dreamsea suits beginners and intermediates who want a sociable, structured week with a pool and plenty of company.
