Memories Surf House

Memories Surf House brings together Pakarang Surf School, the original surf school in Khao Lak with more than 15 years of teaching, and Better Surf Thailand. It is based at Memories Beach in Khuk Khak, a wide, shallow beach north of Bang Niang with consistent beginner-friendly waves, close to the Pakarang reef and river-mouth breaks.

The standard lesson lasts 90 minutes, with around 30 minutes of theory on the sand followed by an hour in the water, taught in small groups of two or three by English and Thai-speaking instructors. The surfboard, rash guard, sunscreen, water, showers, lockers and towels are included, and private coaching is available. Instructors are trained to ISA standards, and the team also runs youth surf projects for local children.

Khao Lak's surf season runs roughly from May to October. Lessons suit complete beginners, children and families, with progression coaching for returning surfers.
